Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows the structure and history of musical instruments; is able to assess how instruments and musical languages determine each other and mutually transform each other, through an ethnographic approach to the history and structure of musical instruments. Classification techniques, and in particular the Systematic of Erich von Hornbostel and Curt Sachs, which offer analytical tools that are also useful in museum applications, will also be described in detail.

Oral lessons.

Oral examination.
