from Sep 15, 2026 to Dec 18, 2026
Learning outcomes
During the course, the student learns the basic knowledge of Mathematical Analysis for functions in one real variable and some elementary tools of linear algebra. At the end of the course, He/She masters the notions of limit, continuity, differential calculus and integration of functions of one real variable as well as some basic results concerning the matrix calculus. The student can solve simple problems raising from pure and applied sciences.
Course contents
1) Numbers and functions
2) Limits, continuous functions and basic Theorems about continuity
3) Differentiability
4)Sketching Curves
5) Integrability
6) Basic linear algebra for linear systems

Teaching methods
The teaching is divided into lectures and exercises in the classroom. Also as a consequence of the intensive nature of the lessons and their sequential structure, attendance is strongly recommended. During the course, examples from the sectors of animal husbandry, agronomy and agricultural engineering are taken into consideration.
Assessment methods
Written exam (resolution of some exercises similar to those of the assignments) with a maximum score of 31 in a maximum allowed time of two hours.
Let N be the grade on the written exam:
- if N<18 another written exam will have to be taken;
- if N is greater than or equal to 18 and less than or equal to 23 then N may be the final grade; the oral exam is optional: it is possible to attempt to raise one's grade;
- if N is greater than or equal to 24 than the oral exam is compulsory to get the final grade.
The oral exam must be taken in the same appeal as the written exam: in general after 4 or 5 days.
Students with learning disorders and\or temporary or permanent disabilities: please, contact the office responsible (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students ) as soon as possible so that they can propose acceptable adjustments. The request for adaptation must be submitted in advance (15 days before the exam date) to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of the adjustments, taking into account the teaching objectives.
