Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students will have acquired fundamental knowledge of the management of workplace emergencies, syncope (presyncope/fainting), bronchial asthma, and cardiac chest pain. They will also have gained practical familiarity with the principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) through mannequin-based simulation training.

Teaching methods
Interactive lectures are designed to provide students with the fundamental principles of anesthesiology, perioperative medicine, and pain management.
Teaching activities are complemented by the discussion of clinical cases and the analysis of perioperative scenarios, with particular emphasis on preoperative assessment, the main anesthetic techniques, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative pain management.
During the lectures, multimedia teaching resources are used to facilitate the understanding of the pathophysiological, pharmacological, and clinical principles of anesthesia.
The course promotes an evidence-based medicine (EBM) approach, fostering the integration of theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, with particular emphasis on patient safety and the multidisciplinary management of perioperative care.

Requests for accommodations must be submitted to the lecturer in advance (at least 15 days before the exam date). Assessment methods
Assessment consists of an oral examination, which may include the discussion of clinical cases, and is designed to evaluate the student's achievement of the learning objectives.
The examination assesses the student's ability to:
- demonstrate knowledge of the principles of general and regional anesthesia;
- describe the neurophysiological basis of pain and the principles of perioperative pain management;
- discuss preoperative assessment, patient monitoring, and the fundamentals of intraoperative management;
- understand the pharmacology of the principal anesthetic agents and analgesics;
- apply theoretical knowledge to common perioperative clinical scenarios.
Assessment is based on the accuracy and completeness of the knowledge acquired, the appropriate use of scientific terminology, the ability to integrate concepts across the topics covered, and the student's clinical reasoning skills.
The final grade is expressed on a 30-point scale (out of 30).
