Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student is familiar with the main web stacks, LAMP and MEAN. They are able to develop web applications and services, both client-side and server-side. They know and can appropriately use the main frameworks and content management systems for web development. They also understand the key differences between the main types of mobile device applications: web apps, hybrid apps, and native apps.

- Comparison of different Web Architectures and Solution Stacks
- MEVN stack, focusing on to Node.js and Vue.js
- Introduction to Build Tools
- Supersets of Web Languages: TypeScript, SCSS, and SASS
- LAMP Stack Solution, with a focus on PHP
- Key differences between the main types of applications: Web Apps, Hybrid Apps, and Native Apps
Readings/Bibliography
Given how quickly the web world changes and evolves, there are no recommended readings. We therefore recommend using the materials provided by the instructor and available on Virtuale, including the supplementary materials.
Teaching methods
Lectures and laboratory exercises.
Given the type of activities and the teaching methods adopted, attendance of this course requires all students to have previously completed Modules 1 and 2 on safety in study environments [http://https//corsi.unibo.it/laurea/TecnologieSistemiInformatici/formazione-obbligatoria-su-sicurezza-e-salute] via e-learning.
Assessment methods
For the final exam, students are required to develop (preferably in groups) a web application that uses the web technologies (Node.js, Vue.js, and TypeScript) and best practices covered during the course.
In addition to the code, students must submit a report in the form of slides, containing: (i) the purpose of the web app; (ii) technologies used (libraries, APIs, etc.), (iii) mockups and screenshots of the web app.
The web app will be presented during the oral exam, which is divided into two parts:
- group presentation of the project (max 27)
- individual oral exam on the theoretical topics covered during the course (max 5 points).
