Learning outcomes

At the end of the laboratory, the student:

• is able to operate independently in applying the specific techniques learned, either autonomously or within projects organized by institutions;
• is able to engage with others regarding the methods of use and documentation of the techniques acquired;
• is able to place the specific knowledge gained within different types of services;
• is able to assess the strengths and limitations of the technical tools learned;
• is able to transfer the technologies acquired to different contexts, introducing personal modifications and integrations.

Course contents

The laboratory aims to introduce students to and engage them in the key elements that characterize the contexts in which socio-pedagogical educators live and carry out their professional activities. It is conceived as an active and dynamic learning environment where educators and pedagogists will present the value, significance, and richness of educational work within social settings.

Through the exploration of major theoretical models, the analysis of local communities and territories, and direct interaction with professionals working in public institutions, private organizations, and the Third Sector, the laboratory seeks to provide students with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to understand the network of socio-pedagogical services, their internal organization, the relationships among different services, and the types of activities and interventions they implement.

The laboratory is structured through a combination of lectures, group work, meetings with educators and pedagogists, and distance-learning activities. Throughout the course, students will be introduced to a variety of professional and organizational realities, enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of the contexts in which they may one day work as educational professionals.

In addition, the laboratory will feature a strong experiential component. The educators involved will not simply describe their professional experiences; they will actively engage students in practical activities, methodologies, and tools commonly used in educational practice. In this way, participants will have the opportunity to “get their hands dirty” by experiencing firsthand the practices, situations, and operational approaches that characterize the daily work of socio-pedagogical educators across different intervention settings.
