Learning outcomes
At the end of the Laboratory, the student:
- is able to apply the concepts addressed within the integrated course in a simulated learning environment;
- is able to engage in critical reflection, working in groups, on the topics proposed.
Course contents
The workshop is integrated with the course Theories and Practices for Assessment of Learning (C). Below you will find information regarding the entire program.
The workshop mainly focuses on individualized instructional design and its primary strategy, the Didactic unit.
During the workshop, the topics of educational planning, instructional and teaching design, and learning assessment will be addressed through active and participatory activities. Specifically, the following topics will be covered:
- the characteristics and functions of educational planning within schools (PTOF), of the Self-Evaluation Report (RAV) and the Improvement Plan (PDM);
- the characteristics of individualized teaching (in comparison with personalized teaching) and its main strategy: the Didactic Unit (UD), including its phases;
- the functions and procedures of learning assessment in primary school and preschool: the stages of learning assessment, its functions within the Didactic Unit, and data collection tools;
- formative assessment, including its characteristics, its approach to error, and the role of formative feedback.

Teaching methods
The Workshop is characterized by:
-the active-simulative approach from the first meeting, immediately asking students to take a participatory, cooperative attitude that is as close as possible to an idea of solid teacher professionalism;
- the applicative-operational approach that will require to experiment, with the guide of the conductor, the didactic planning in all its phases, connecting the practice to the theory;
- the use of case analysis to reflect practically on design and evaluation habits;
- the aptitude to create situations in which the student must argue his choices, actions or attitudes trying to draw on his theoretical-procedural or experiential background;
- the push to reflect on their own ongoing learning in a perspective of progressive construction of their design and assessment skills;
- continuous work connected on two levels: group and individual;- a unitary training proposal for all the Teaching Laboratories with the characteristics described so far, which will be able to diversify into educational strategies and mediators based on the specificities of the individual conductors
In the Workshop, students must participate with already consolidated basic knowledge, therefore a systematic study is recommended before and during the course.
As this is a laboratory course rather than a lecture-based course, students are expected to participate with already well-established foundational knowledge; therefore, systematic study is recommended both before and throughout the course.
Assessment methods
The workshop will benefit from several assessments that will make up the final grade (expressed in thirtieths) which will refer to different products:
First assessment – mid-term assignment: an argumentative essay and an interview. The grade for this assignment will account for 20% of the final grade.
Second assessment: a group project consisting of the development of an educational plan and a didactic unit. The grade awarded for these group assignments will account for 40% of the final grade. The final version of the products, revised following the feedback received during the workshop, must be submitted after the end of the course.
Third Assessment: an individual final summative assessment or an individual assignment (to be submitted with corrections after the end of the workshop/laboratory) on the topics of didactic unit and the learning assessment. The grade obtained in this assessment/assignment will account for 40% of the final laboratory grade.
If you miss even one of these assessment steps, you will not receive a grade for the workshop.
Additional factors taken into consideration
In determining the final grade, consideration will also be given to any evidence gathered regarding active and continuous participation in the Laboratory, willingness to step outside one’s comfort zone, appropriate interpersonal conduct with classmates and the instructor, and the punctual submission of assignments.
Absence is allowed for 25% of the hours of the whole workshop; if this threshold is exceeded, no grade can be awarded for the workshop. Attendance is therefore compulsory.
The final grade for the workshop will be averaged with the grade obtained in the other two modules of the relevant course.

The course is described and structured on Virtuale platform, where the materials for each meeting can be accessed.

Students are asked to actively participate.
Students with SLD (Specific Learning Disorders) or disabilities: it is recommended that they contact the responsible University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en/for-students) as soon as possible. The request for adaptation must be submitted in advance (15 days before the exam date) to the lecturer, who will assess the appropriateness of the adjustments, considering the teaching objectives.

With regard to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the workshop, it is strictly prohibited to rely on it as a substitute tool for the uncritical and automated generation of the required assignments. AI may serve as a support for the learning process, but it cannot replace the student's independent work. The use of AI is permitted only after the student has first developed their own personal work.
Any use of AI in violation of this policy will result in exclusion from the workshop.
