Learning outcomes
Course contents
The workshop, structured into 8 modules, lasts 24 hours and aims to develop students’ skills in the use of digital technologies in early years education, with particular reference to media education, the design and creation of multimedia resources, and the critical, informed and responsible use of artificial intelligence tools to support educational and teaching processes. Productivity tools (word processing, presentations, cloud services) are presented as tools to aid educational planning and documentation.
Module 1 – Digital Skills and Media Education in Educational Services (3 hours)
DigCompEdu and digital skills for educators.
Media Education and the informed use of technology in educational services for children aged 0–6.
Criteria for selecting digital tools.
Organisation, archiving, cloud storage and backup of educational materials.
Practical exercises on designing a digital archive for educational documentation.
Module 2 – Educational Planning and Professional Documentation (4 hours)
Educational planning and digital professional documentation.
Minutes, systematic observations and communications with families.
Shared templates, document layout and management.
Practical exercise on drawing up an educational plan with accompanying documentation.
Module 3 – Digital tools for organising educational services (3 hours)
Spreadsheets for registers, calendars and activity planning.
Data collection, monitoring of observations and graphical representations.
Practical exercise on creating digital tools for managing educational services.
Module 4 – Visual Communication and Multimedia Documentation (3 hours)
Visual communication, educational photography and the documentation of experiences.
Storytelling, digital presentations and educational e-books.
Production of multimedia materials for children, families and teams.
Practical exercise on creating a digital record of an educational experience.
Module 5 – Collaborative tools and digital applications (3 hours)
Sharing digital documents and folders.
Team collaboration using cloud-based tools.
Shared calendars and applications for educational documentation.
Evaluating educational apps.
Practical exercise simulating collaborative work within an educational team.
Module 6 – Digital Technologies in Educational Services (3 hours)
Digital educational documentation and the child’s portfolio.
Storytelling and multimedia narration of experiences for children aged 0–6.
Educational planning using digital tools and communication with families.
Educational photography and highlighting learning processes.
Introduction to Artificial Intelligence in educational contexts.
Practical exercise on the planning and digital documentation of an educational workshop.
Module 7 – Artificial Intelligence and digital tools for educational documentation (3 hours)
Generative AI: opportunities, limitations and educational applications.
Prompts for the design and production of educational materials.
Creating texts, images and illustrated stories using AI tools.
Digital storytelling and multimedia documentation.
Critical evaluation of outputs: quality, bias, privacy and responsible use.
Practical exercise on designing an educational activity and producing the relevant digital documentation.
Module 8 – Digital security, privacy and digital citizenship (2 hours)
Protection of personal data in educational services.
Digital security, passwords, authentication and cyber risks.
The GDPR, children’s privacy and image management.
Copyright, digital licences and the responsible use of online resources.
Ethics in the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence.
Practical exercise analysing case studies relating to privacy, security and digital educational documentation.
