Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the integrated course, students will have in-depth knowledge of language disorders, learning disorders, and approaches to interacting with patients and caregivers. Upon completion of Seminar 1, students will be familiar with the main compensatory and remedial tools for children and adolescents with specific learning disorders in elementary and secondary school. Upon completion of Seminar 2, students will have gained a deeper understanding of neuroimaging techniques in children with speech disorders. They will be able to identify the correlations between speech difficulties and neuroimaging. Upon completion of the laboratory, students will have experienced paradigmatic situations in clinical speech-language pathology practice. They will be familiar with the main techniques of assertive communication and methods of reflective reasoning.

Teaching methods

Lectures, practice, discussion of clinical cases.

Assessment methods

Written exam and small-group exercise on the clinical case

Grade out of 30 calculated from the sum of the scores obtained in the individual tests. Written test with short-answer and/or multiple-choice questions, 20 total points (1 point for a correct answer, 0 for an incorrect answer, 0.5 for a partial answer); small-group practical test presenting solutions to a clinical case, 12 total points.

Students with specific learning disabilities (SLD) or temporary or permanent disabilities: it is recommended to contact the responsible University office in a timely manner; the office will be responsible for proposing any accommodations to the students concerned, which must in any case be submitted at least 15 days in advance for approval by the instructor, who will evaluate their appropriateness also in relation to the learning objectives of the course.

Regarding learning assessments, the use of AI is prohibited. Any use constitutes a violation of academic integrity.
