Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student will achieve the ability to apply knowledge and comprehension in relation to the concepts of health and personal care, to the stages of the care process, the detection of the vital parameters, health care measures to be taken in emergency situations.

Lectures and practice exercises.

Assessment methods

The written examination consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, each with four answer options, only one of which is correct. Each correct answer is worth 1.25 points, for a maximum of 25 points.

In addition, the examination includes 1 open-ended question, worth 6 points.

The maximum total score is 31 points, which is equivalent to 30 cum laude.

Students have 40 minutes to complete the written examination.

For the multiple-choice questions, an incorrect answer receives 0 points (no points are deducted). Each correct answer is awarded 1.25 points.

The open-ended question (maximum 6 points) is assessed according to the following criteria:

• 6 points: Complete, accurate, and well-developed answer. Uses appropriate subject-specific terminology, presents clear and well-organized arguments, and contains no significant errors.
• 5 points: Correct and almost complete answer. Demonstrates a good understanding of the topic, with only minor inaccuracies or a few missing details. Appropriate use of language.
• 4 points: Generally correct but partial answer. Demonstrates a satisfactory understanding of the topic, although with some inaccuracies or limited ability to develop the argument.
• 3 points: Incomplete and superficial answer. Shows basic knowledge of the topic but includes significant errors or important gaps. Uses simple and imprecise language.
• 2 points: Very limited answer. Demonstrates only partial understanding of the topic, with numerous conceptual errors and poor ability to present ideas clearly.
• 1 point: Answer is almost entirely incorrect, off-topic, or extremely fragmentary. Demonstrates minimal or highly confused knowledge of the topic.
• 0 points: Completely incorrect answer or no answer provided.

Students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) or temporary or permanent disabilities are encouraged to contact the relevant University office well in advance (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it ). The office will propose any appropriate accommodations for the students concerned. Such accommodations must, however, be submitted to the instructor for approval at least 15 days in advance. The instructor will assess their suitability, taking into account the intended learning outcomes of the course.

With regard to assessment, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) is prohibited. Any use of AI constitutes a violation of academic integrity.

During the written examination, students are not allowed to consult textbooks, notes, or any other materials. The use of electronic devices is strictly prohibited.

If a student decides to retake the examination, regardless of the result obtained, the grade achieved in the previous examination will be automatically cancelled.

To pass the examination of the integrated course and proceed with the official registration of the grade, students must achieve a passing mark in all individual modules included in the integrated course. The final grade will be calculated as the weighted average of the grades obtained in the individual modules of the integrated course.

Teaching tools

Equipment and teaching resources: computer, projector, medical manikin, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, pulse oximeter, and digital learning applications.

Given the nature of the activities and teaching methods adopted, attendance in this course requires all students to complete Modules 1–4 of the mandatory e-learning training on health and safety in study and clinical placement settings (specific training for high-risk environments).
