-
from Nov 24, 2025 to Dec 19, 2025
Learning outcomes
Precision Medicine directly relates data, knowledge and skills that pertain the areas of genetic data of the patient, appropriate experimental models and functional/pharmacological analysis in order to correctly contextualize knowledge for the development of tailored treatments. At the end of the course, students will become familiar with concepts and techniques related to pharmacological resistance; development of representative experimental models; development antibodies; targeted and cell therapy.
Course contents
Lessons will include:
1. Historic definition of precision medicine, current potentialities and limits
2. The role of genomics in the field of molecular diagnosis: techniques and applications. Optimum biomarker selection, validation and application for diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers;
3. The role of genomics in the development of novel therapeutic approaches
4. Targeted therapies: how to choose the targets and the drugs
5. Engineered antibodies, Protein targeted degradation, small tyrosine kinase inhibitors: advantages and disadvantages of different approaches
6.Targeted proteim degradation approaches
7. Development of novel experimental models for functional genomics and drug screeningReadings/Bibliography
Original research articles and slides will be provided by the lecture
Teaching methods
The course will be structured as follows
- frontal lectures with PowerPoint slides
- discussion of original research articles on topics related to the lectures
Assessment methods
Attendance to the course is mandatory to sustain the exam.
Student learning will be checked at the end of the course with a oral exam. Eligibility will be granted at the end of the exam.
