Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student has basic knowledge of analyzing and describing the mechanical effects of muscle activation in kinetic chains. He or she also knows the principles of skilled human performance, the basic elements of physical efficiency analysis, and the relationship between quality, physical capacity, and motor activity. In particular, he is able to consider the movements of the human body as a particular aspect of solid mechanics in its different components: kinematics, statics, dynamics. The student becomes aware that 'kinesiological information underlies all motor science and has the fundamental notions for all functional applications of movement.

PDF of the slides used during the lectures will be available on the “Virtual” platform of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna.
It is recommended not to print the material well in advance of the reference lectures, as the lecturer may make changes to it.
Teaching methods
Lectures with multimedia aids. Lecture material presented in class will be available on the "Virtual" platform of the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna.
Assessment methods
The examination in "Human Kinesiology" consists of a written and oral test.
All tests are in-person. Please note that the online mode will be activated in case of emergency by communication from the University of Bologna
The tests can be taken on the same data, or in two different data (January-February; June-July; September).
The written test is about is inherent in the Figure Exam which includes 3 parts:
- Part One: Definitions of movement terms.
- Part Two: Description of figures (total attitude and stance, stance and movements of body segments, limb holds, movements of individual joints).
- Part Three: Analysis of the axis and plane of movement of 2 figures
The written test consists of 35 closed questions.
Questions pertaining to axes and planes are awarded 2.39 points, and other questions 0.79 point.
No points are deducted if the student does not answer the question or gets it wrong.
The final outcome of the written test is pass or fail. Eligibility allows one to take the oral test. Eligibility is obtained with 20 points.
The duration of the written test is 25 minutes.
The test is taken in presence on the University of Bologna's EOL application, using cell phone, computer, tablet.
The eligibility obtained in the written test remains valid 1 year.
The results of the written test (eligible or ineligible) will be indicated on the lecturer's website under the notices session.
The results of the written tests (eligible or ineligible) will be posted on the lecturer's website under the session notices.
The oral test is accessed only after obtaining IDONITY in the written test. The written test only gives eligibility and therefore should not be averaged with the oral test.
The final test consists of an oral interview on the topics covered in the course syllabus.
The examination will also include questions designed to test:
- the level of depth of the topic presented;
- the knowledge of the other contents of the program;
- the ability to make logical-deductive connections between different topics;
- the degree of organic understanding of the topics covered during the lectures.
For the assessment of the student's/student's preparation, the lecturer may use additional questions aimed at analyzing aspects related to the main topics. The following will be assessed: the ability to expound correctly, completely and critically on the required topics; the clarity of exposition and the ability to use the specific language of the discipline.
Criteria for awarding final grade:
- 18-19: preparation on a very limited number of topics; ability to analyze present only with teacher support; overall fairly correct use of language.
- 20-24: preparation on a limited number of topics; ability to analyze independently confined to executive issues; correct language.
- 25-29: preparation on a wide range of topics; ability for independent critical analysis; good command of specific terminology.
- 30: Comprehensive preparation on all course topics; critical autonomy in analysis and connections between contents; full command of disciplinary language and argumentative and reflective ability.
- 30 cum laude: organic and integrated view of the topics covered; critical and informed use of knowledge; ability to make articulate connections; excellent mastery of expression and language, including specific terminology.
Students with learning disorders and temporary or permanent disabilities are invited to contact the dedicated office (https://site [https://site/] .unibo.it/students-with-disabilities-and-dsa/en/for-students) as soon as possible so that appropriate compensatory measures can be agreed upon. The request must be submitted in advance (15 days before the date of the exam) to the teacher, who will assess the appropriateness of the measures taking into account the teaching objectives.
The oral test is accessed only after obtaining the IDONITY in the written test. The written test only gives eligibility and therefore should not be averaged with the oral test.
In order to take the exam, registration is required through the Almaesami registration, in strict compliance with the deadlines. Lists on Almaesami close two days before the start of each appeal.
There are 8 appeals during the Academic Year:
- 4 in January/February;
- 4 in June/July;
- 2 in September.
Sometimes an appeal is placed in the December window. No appeal is inserted in the Easter session.
The date, time and place of written and oral examinations are indicated on the Almaesami website.
There are no roll call skips.
The tests can be taken in the same appeal, or in different appeals (January-February; June-July; September).
On the days of the appeals, students are required to show up at the scheduled start time of the test, under penalty of exclusion from the test, in case of delay due to trains, etc. the student should notify the lecturer by e-mail. At the start time of the exam session, the lecturer will conduct a roll call of those enrolled
If there is a high number of enrolled students, it may happen that the lecturer will send an e-mail to stagger the students in different time slots. If the student does not receive the e-mail, he/she will have to show up at the test start time.
