Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student:
- knows main socio-sanitary organizations processes;
- masters problems of relations between actors and organizational processes in the development's projects focused to create commons good;
- knows and can use the most relevant sociological tools to understand of the organizational issues;
- knows and can use the most relevant sociological tools to promote socio-sanitary organizations networks in order to reach complex targets in the care interventions.
Course contents
The course aims to develop the skills needed to navigate the process of translating social policies into concrete actions in the context of key contemporary welfare issues, with a particular focus on the territorial system of services.
The course focuses on analysing social planning processes to rethink public action in contexts of profound ecological crisis, uncertainty and complexity, with the aim of promoting socio-ecological care and combatting inequalities.
The main topics addressed are:
Public action and territorial governance: tools for governing.
Guiding principles and guidelines in social planning, and the most relevant critical elements in implementation processes.
Elements of design culture for implementing social welfare policies in territorial welfare within a multi-level governance context.
Some of the lessons will involve accompanying a design experience in the field, which will be carried out through the organisation of working groups of up to five students.

Teaching methods
Lectures and group design exercise (groups of 4, max. 5 students*) of a social service/intervention in the field of territorial welfare (exploration of the topic/data collection in the field using social research tools, analysis of the bibliography, design of the project, drafting of the intervention sheet and class presentation).
It is recommended to attend (Year II) the Service organisation and design Lab (see Activities chosen by the student), during which experts and operators in the social and social-health field (at different institutional and organisational levels) will illustrate their professional experience in the field, allowing an in-depth study and discussion with the students on the main issues dealt with in the course Programming of Social Services in the Territory.
Assessment methods
Attending students:
The final assessment will consist of:
- a written test with two open questions.
- a group report on the group exercise (details will be provided at the start of the course).
Non-attending students:
A written test with five open questions.
It will produce excellent valuations: the ability to deepen and put into connection with each other the main issues addressed in the course; the use of appropriate language with the specific nature of the discipline.
It will produce discrete valuations: mnemonic knowledge of contents and partial ability to link the themes covered; the use of appropriate language.
It will produce sufficient valuations: a minimal body of knowledge on the topics covered; the use of inappropriate language.
It will produce negative valuations: lack of guidance within the themes addressed in the exam readings and training gaps; the use of inappropriate Language.
