Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is to give a basic preparation, design skills, and understanding the specifications of sensors and measuring systems for automotive applications.
Course contents
The Course is split into two modules. The first one is focused on the fundamental concepts for the metrological characterization of measurement processes, and on the fundamentals of signal processing. The second module will focus mainly on the overview and analysis of a set of sensors relevant to the automotive scenario
In particular, the topics of the Course can be summarized as:
Module 1
*Basic metrology concepts.
- Introduction to probability and statistic for signal processing.
- The guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurements.
- Basics of signal processing.
Module 2
*Measurement chain
- From sensors to signal conditioning, ADC, processing
- Static and Dynamic characteristics
*Sensors
- Hall effect sensors
- Velocity and Acceleration
+ Incremental and absolute encoder and resolver
+ Variable Reluctance
- Detectors of Humans
- Temperature sensors
* Sensor Networks for Automotive
In the last part, the course will provide a view on the interconnections of sensors within modern automotive networks.
