Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, students will understand the general principles of pathophysiology as they pertain to the interpretation of future clinical practice. Specifically, knowledge of these principles allows for a thorough understanding of the underlying factors underlying the altered functioning of organs and systems, which give rise to both semiological and clinical aspects. Students will also be able to appropriately approach patients with regard to the objective physical component, with the ability to independently assess various systems and in conjunction with knowledge of investigative procedures specific to clinical methodology. The integration of knowledge of clinical pathophysiology and semiotics enables students to understand and address the basic foundations of diseases, preparatory to future study.
