Learning outcomes

The student acquires the professional skills, responsibilities, and ethical obligations of the profession, understands the Code of Ethics, the professional ethics of the TSRM, how to transfer skills, and types of communication.

Course contents

The course Professional Ethics and Deontology of the Radiographer (TSRM) introduces the ethical, legal and deontological foundations governing the professional practice of the Radiographer.
Specifically, the course covers:

  • the general principles of professional ethics and bioethics applied to healthcare professions;

  • the professional profile of the Radiographer, including competencies, responsibilities and ethical obligations;

  • the Code of Ethics of the Radiographer, with an analysis of its core principles and main rules of professional conduct;

  • the concept of professional responsibility, particularly in relation to patient protection, safety and quality of care;

  • the professional–patient relationship and the main communication models in healthcare settings;

  • the importance of ethically informed professional behaviour within multidisciplinary teams and in the context of competence transfer.

Teaching methods

The course is delivered through interactive lectures, complemented by guided discussions and analysis of illustrative case studies.
Particular emphasis is placed on active student participation, encouraging critical reflection on ethical and deontological issues related to professional practice.
Practical examples and real-life professional situations are presented to support the integration of theoretical knowledge with clinical and professional contexts.

Assessment methods

Learning outcomes are assessed through a written and/or oral examination aimed at verifying:

  • knowledge of the ethical and deontological principles of the profession;

  • understanding of the Radiographer’s Code of Ethics;

  • the ability to apply theoretical concepts to basic professional scenarios;

  • the appropriate use of professional and technical terminology.

The final grade is expressed on a scale of 30 points, in accordance with the Degree Programme regulations.
