Learning outcomes
At the end of the module, the student is familiar with the research methodology and is able to identify specific areas of intervention.
Course contents
Before the start of academic activities, the teacher will involve the students in the training contract.
The course is divided into chapters.
Chapter 1: General aspects in nursing research
At the end of the chapter, the student will be able to:
Understand the strong correlation between nursing research and professional practice;
Understand the various types applicable to nursing research;
Distinguish primary studies from secondary ones;
Understand the evidence pyramid.
Chapter 2: Research studies, definitions, and applications
At the end of the chapter, the student will be able to:
Distinguish the main research studies and their application;
Be able to assess the feasibility of research studies based on PICOM.
Chapter 3: The research process in quantitative studies
At the end of the chapter, the student will be able to:
Describe the phases of the research process;
Present the constituent elements of each phase;
Acquire the methodological ability to synthesize the relevant elements presented in the discussion of study results;
Acquire the methodological ability to write an observational study, literature review, meta-analysis;
Correctly include citations and relevant bibliography in a research study.
Chapter 4: Ethical principles
At the end of the chapter, the student will be able to:
Understand the main references that guide human research;
Promote reflection on the ethical aspects that research work should contain.
