Learning outcomes

Students can learn about CT equipment hardware and software configuration and its physical principles, along with complex clinical applications.

They also acquire knowledge of the fundamentals of CT procedure optimization, with respect to quality control and dosimetry criteria.

Course contents

  1. INTRODUCTION TO CT SYSTEMS: MAIN COMPONENTS, OPERATING PRINCIPLES, IMAGE RECONSTRUCTION
  2. EVOLUTION OF CT SYSTEMS: SPIRAL OR VOLUMETRIC ACQUISITION, MULTISLICE SYSTEMS
  3. CT IMAGE QUALITY: QUALITY PARAMETERS (NOISE, CONTRAST, RESOLUTION, etc.)
  4. QUALITY CONTROLS: TECHNICAL PARAMETERS, MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION
  5. CT DOSE
  6. ARTIFACTS: MAIN RECONSTRUCTION USED IN CT; COMPLEX CLINICAL APPLICATIONS (CARDIOCT, PERFUSION, NAVIGATION, VESSEL ANALYSIS, VOLUMES); ITERATIVE RECONSTRUCTION ALGORITHMS
