Learning outcomes

Acquisition of basic skills in child neuropsychiatry.

Course contents

Approaching minors with neuropsychiatric issues: initial admission, history taking, diagnostic workup, and diagnosis reporting. Clinical cases.

Neurodevelopmental disorders: key diagnostic guidelines and pathology definition (test evaluation); reference to differential diagnoses, with particular reference to elements that require collaboration with the medical field. Clinical cases.

Schizophrenia spectrum disorders: key diagnostic guidelines and treatment plan definition (test evaluation); reference to differential diagnoses, with particular reference to elements that require collaboration with the medical field. Clinical cases.

Mood disorders; depressive disorders: key diagnostic guidelines and treatment plan definition (test evaluation); reference to differential diagnoses, with particular reference to elements that require collaboration with the medical team. Clinical cases.

Nutrition and eating disorders: key diagnostic guidelines and treatment plan definition (test evaluation); reference to differential diagnoses, with particular reference to elements that require collaboration with the medical team. Clinical cases.

Anxiety disorders: key diagnostic guidelines and treatment plan (test evaluation); a review of differential diagnoses, with particular reference to elements that require collaboration with the medical team. Clinical cases.

Teaching methods

Lectures held with the aid of slides and videos.

Assessment methods

The written exam is designed to assess the student's level of preparation.

It consists of 12 questions with three possible answers, one correct answer worth 1.5 points each, and two open-ended questions worth 6 points each.

The written exam must be comprehensive, complete, and well-structured, respecting the required synthesis.

It will be graded as follows:

- Excellent: 6 points for each question; possible honors (if all the closed-ended questions are positive, or a 1-point bonus on the final grade based on the quality of the open-ended questions)

- 5 points for an excellent answer

- 4 points for a complete answer with some gaps

- 3 points for a complete answer with several gaps

- 2 points for many gaps and incomplete

- 1/0 points for an incomplete and poor answer

The exam lasts approximately 60 minutes.
