Learning outcomes
By the end of the laboratory the student: knows the basic processes and techniques related to the creation, writing, production, packaging and distribution of film and tv products; knows how to place film and tv production within the broader context of the creation of contents for media and cultural industries; is able to contribute autonomously to the creation of an audiovisual product.
Course contents
The workshop will cover the basics of film production, including audiovisual text analysis and the practices involved in the development, production, post-production and distribution of a film.
The course includes a mix of theoretical content and practical experience, including:
- the position of the film industry within the broader framework of the creative industries
- the economic and administrative preconditions for the sustainability of audiovisual production
- managerial and creative support for authors and directors
- the preparation of materials for the creation of a pitch deck
- business-to-business and business-to-consumer communication materials in the film industry
- the stages of the production chain
- the funding process for a film project
- production organisation
- script analysis and the construction of a production plan
- pitch preparation
- the distribution system
The teacher will provide ongoing theoretical, technical and practical support.

Teaching methods
The course includes lectures, classroom exercises, and case study discussions with guest speakers.
Students are required to actively participate in lessons and to create, edit, and produce short audiovisual texts. For this reason, the use of a device (smartphone, tablet, PC) is required.
The course is taught in Italian.
Assessment methods
For those who have attended at least 75% of the lessons, the exam will consist of an oral presentation of the projects carried out in groups during the workshop.
For those who decide to follow the workshop as a “non-attending” student, there will be an individual interview lasting a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes on the topics covered during the lessons.
