Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to address selected frontier issues and open questions in the field of animal science, circular economy, safety of foods of animal origin, and animal breeding and genetics. The student will be able to critically assess current issues, trends and advancements in relation to the presented topics starting from concrete case studies, and will have an updated knowledge on the most recent perspectives in those fields.
Course contents
The following list of seminars will be proposed:
1. Survey design for research (16 Hours) – Dr. Dolfi
2. Aquacolture in the Circular Economy (16 hours): Resilience, Sustainability and climate-smart practices – Prof. Bonaldo, Prof. Parma, Dr. Benini, Dr. Ferretti, Dr. Nordio, Dr. Vecchio
3. Practical Introduction to WGS assembly (16 hours) – Dr. Mansouri
4. Research approach to pharmacology in veterinary and animal science (8 hours) – Dr. Bardhi
5. Advances in bovine animal breeding: experiences from the University of Florence (8 hours) – Prof. Tiezzi, Dr. Callegaro, Dr. GrazianiReadings/Bibliography

Teaching methods
The workshop will require active involvement of the auditors, consisting of practical activities and peer-to-peer discussions. Considering the types of activities and teaching methods adopted, attendance for this course requires the successful completion of Modules 1 and 2 via e-learning.
Assessment methods
Practical activities (e.g. research essay) and attendance will be considered for the registration of the exam. The exam mark will be registered only as "passed". For students not attending lectures, a short essay on 3 out the 5 seminars will be required to registed the ECTS related to learning activity.
