Learning outcomes

Al termine del corso lo studente conoscerà: - concetti chiave della filosofia della scienza, come legge naturale, spiegazione scientifica, teoria, controllo sperimentale e rappresentazione della realtà.I problemi aperti nei fondamenti della fisica, come la non località quantistica, la misurazione quantistica, la incompatibilità fra relatività generale e meccanica quantistica, il principio cosmologico; - il contributo delle attuali teorie fisiche alle grandi questioni filosofiche, come il determinismo, la natura dello spazio-tempo, il rapporto parti-tutto, la causalità, le origini dell’universo. Al termine del corso lo studente sarà in grado di: - comprendere gli aspetti filosofici della ricerca in fisica; - esplicitare le premesse epistemologiche di un problema tecnico di fisica teorica o sperimentale; - utilizzare la logica simbolica per affrontare questioni di fondamenti della fisica; - esplicitare la propria posizione epistemologica e posizionarsi criticamente rispetto ai temi e ai metodi di ricerca avanzata in fisica.

Assessment methods

For those attending 3 questions on the topics listed. Each is worth up to 12 points.


Students who submit a paper in class have a bonus of 1 to 3 points.


For non-attending students 3 questions on the books in the bibliography, each worth up to 12 points.
