Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will have knowledge on etiology, pathogenesis and symptomatology of the main zoonotic parasitic diseases. The student will also acquire knowledge about the diagnostic techniques used in the veterinary laboratories to detect parasites in animals and/or in foods of animal origin. They will also learn the measures implemented by the Public Health Veterinary Services to prevent man infection.

Course contents

Epidemiology, diagnosis and control of the main parasitic diseases transmissible between animals and human with particular reference to:
Protozoa - Cryptosporidiosi
Trematoda – Fasciolosi, Opistorchiasi;
Cestoda – Echinococcosi-idatidosi, Difillobotriasi;
Nematoda – Anisakiasi, Trichinellosi Ascaridiosi
