Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student develops diagnostic reasoning skills, clinical reasoning, critical thinking and develops methodological skills relating to care planning with particular reference to highly complex situations. Apply the knowledge acquired relating to technical, relational and educational skills. Is able to identify critical areas on which to hypothesize nursing research projects. The activity develops in correlation with the internship path and contents.

Course contents

MODULE 1: CARE FOR PERSONS WITH MULTIPLE TRAUMAS
Theoretical principles of basic and advanced traumatology, principles of immobilization and devices.


MODULE 2: CARE FOR PERSONS WITH ACUTE RESPIRATORY FAILURE - CARE FOR PERSONS WITH NON-INVASIVE VENTILATION
Manage the patient in NIV, clinical and multiparametric monitoring, recognize the main complications, manage BPAP and CPAP systems; reading and interpretation of ABGs.

MODULE 2: CARE FOR PERSONS WITH ACUTE RESPIRATORY FAILURE - CARE FOR PERSONS WITH INVASIVE VENTILATION Manage the ventilator, multi-parameter monitoring, recognize the main complications.

MODULE 3: NURSING ASSESSMENT AND CARE FOR PERSONS WITH SEPSIS IN CRITICAL AREA Develop skills in planning and managing care for people with sepsis

MODULE 3: ARTERIAL AND VENOUS BLOOD GAS ANALYSIS, HOW TO RECOGNIZE THE MAIN ALTERATIONS Define the standard values to evaluate the quality of gas exchange, alveolar ventilation and acid-base balance, reading blood gas analysis and interpreting data

MODULE 3: HEALTH DOCUMENTATION, NURSING DELIVERIES Health documentation and medical records, correct handover with various methodologies

MODULE 4: NARRATIVE MEDICINE Sharing clinical cases and experiences, narrative reflection on communication and listening

MODULE 4: HYPNOTIC COMMUNICATION Acquire knowledge and skills of hypnotic communication in order to promote the patient's compliance with the care and rehabilitation project, pain management and procedural anxiet.

MODULE 5: NURSING ULTRASOUND Acquire notions of nursing ultrasound and main practical implications

Teaching methods

The Laboratory activity takes place in settings equipped for small groups of students, and is conducted by the holder of the Teaching with supervisory functions with the collaboration of expert clinical professionals and 3° year students called: peer educators. Learning is facilitated by the use of technological tools and aids to support the teaching activity. Laboratory activities include clinical reasoning and care planning, simulation and role playing sessions. Assessment methods

Admission to the exam is subject to 100% attendance of the laboratories.

The learning assessment is carried out through the administration of three open-ended questions (maximum 10 lines), on topics covered during the Professional Laboratory 3 experience. Each answer will be evaluated with a score ranging from zero to ten; the minimum score to be achieved to pass the test will be 21/30.
The time available will be ‘30 minutes.
2 tests are guaranteed per exam session; the test will be kept valid for a single exam session.

Professional Laboratory 3 and In-depth Seminars II constitute the C.I. of Professional Laboratory 3, the evaluation of which is expressed in suitability, including the positive outcome of each test.

Teaching tools

Learning is facilitated by the use of technological tools and aids to support the teaching activity such as: mannequins/simulators, mannequin/simulator parts, specific medical-surgical devices, demonstration videos, etc.
