67036 - French 2

Academic Year 2025/2026

  • Teaching Mode: In-person learning (entirely or partially)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Anthropology, Religions, Oriental Civilizations (cod. 8493)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students will have achieved an intermediate level of proficiency (vocabulary and syntactic structures) in the French language.

Course contents

The aim of the course is to achieve level B2 proficiency (as described by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), particularly in reading and oral comprehension and written production.

To achieve this goal, various types of documents (videos, articles) on topics of general interest, with particular reference to the French-speaking world and Francophonie, will be analysed and discussed, including at the lexical and syntactic level.

In order to take the French 2 course, a complete mastery of the contents of the French 1 course is required.

Readings/Bibliography

Reference text (also for independent study): Françoise Bidaud & Marie-Christine Grange, Manuel de français, Compétences linguistiques, culturelles et communicatives - Levels B1 and B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference (Volume 2), second edition, Hoepli, 2024.

The course material will be uploaded by the teacher each week to the Virtual Learning Platform, on the course page.

Teaching methods

The lessons will be structured in such a way as to guide the understanding of documents (written and oral) through preparatory activities (syntax, vocabulary, cultural elements) and oral interactions to consolidate the acquisition of the topics covered, both from a linguistic and cultural point of view.

Each document will be the subject of comprehension and commentary activities, in order to achieve the communication objectives set for level B2 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Therefore, participation and attendance at lessons is strongly recommended.

Students who are unable to attend lessons are invited to view the course material, which is uploaded to Virtuale.

Assessment methods

Learning will be assessed and evaluated through a two-hour written exam, consisting of a written or oral comprehension test and a short written assignment (max. 200 words).

Teaching tools

All lesson support material will be made available and accessible via the course page on the Virtual Learning Platform.

Students who, for reasons related to disabilities or specific learning disorders (SLD), require compensatory or adaptive tools must first contact the appropriate office: https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it/per-studenti.
