- Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Electrical Energy Engineering (cod. 9066)
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students own a knowledge of the management techniques of electrical assets in the framework of the issues related to the processes of management and maintenance of electric power systems, starting with technical-economical and power quality aspects; they are capable of developing then, in particular, diagnostic methodologies based on health index evaluation, reliability estimates and life modelling, the concepts of data mining and quality systems.
Course contents
- Breakdown il liquid dielectrics
- Paper/oil insulated systems
- The electrical insulation system of power transformers: cellulose and mineral oil, and their deterioration due to thermal aging in the presence of catalysts. Techniques for transformer drying. Bulk and local diagnostic techniques for transformer, bushings and on-load tap changers.
- Power cables: typical failure modes. Global diagnostic tools (dissipation factor, dielectric spectroscopy, dissolved gas analysis). Detection of partial discharges.Water trees and their detection.
- Insulation system of rotating machines: resin rich, VPI and global VPI, conductive armor tape, stress control system, bracing systems. Aging mechanisms and typical failure modes. Bulk diagnostic tool and partial discharge detection online and offline.
