Learning outcomes

The student is able to understand and produce a wide range of complex written and spoken texts in German, in a fluent and idiomatic way.

Course contents

The course continues with the study of the topics dealt with in the first year, with particular focus on:

• morphological, syntactical, phonetic and lexical structures of standard German;

• language variation, with particular reference to differences in register;

• the question of reliability of sources, selection and veracity of information;

• the phenomena of linguistic contact;

• the dynamics of bilingual communication;

• the knowledge and use of lexicographical tools and online resources (different types of dictionaries, corpora, data bases).

In addition, through targeted educational interventions, the course enhances the development of relevant skills for text production and oral interaction.

Students are expected to achieve C1 competence level.

Teaching methods

Lectures, exercises, group work.

This course will be supported by separate language training sessions (lettorato), aimed at supporting and consolidating writing and speaking skills. Students shall attend at least 70% of course lessons and training sessions.

Assessment methods

The assessment methods have been changed due to Corono Virus

 

Oral exam (online): 

- an interview in German which aims at assessing interation skills 

- discussion of two powerPoint presentations and  two texts written by the student during the course, with assessment of interaction skills

 The evaluation of the texts will regard also the working process in itself and its documentation.

The total mark for the examination in Lingua e Mediazione III (prima lingua) is the average between the mark for this module and the one for Interpretazione di Trattativa II (prima lingua).

Teaching tools

Video projector, notebook with Internet connection, special software tools for text analysis, web-sites of German newspapers and magazines, terminology data bases, corpora, video streaming of TV broadcastings, online dictionaries. Additional software and tools shall be indicated. Written, oral and audiovisual documents to be delivered and produced within the Moodle content management system. Students are expected to register.
