35443 - Product Design Laboratory (2nd cycle)

Academic Year 2015/2016

  • Teaching Mode: In-person learning (entirely or partially)
  • Campus: Forli
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Mechanical Engineering (cod. 8771)

Learning outcomes

The main aim of the lab is to provide students with the capability of using Reverse Engineering and Rapid Protptyping technologies in product design.

Both contact based and contactless Reverse Engineering techniques are presented. Training on processing and post processing of 3D geometric data with laser scanners and piezo electric scanners are performed. Also trasmissive techniques volume rendering are presented. Moreover how to interface data with CAD (Computer Aided Design) e CAID (Computer Aided Industrial Design) systems is teached. Models produced during the lab will be printed with the FDM RP machine.

Course contents

Prototyping in Product development. Methods and techniques of Reverse Engineering; Methods and techniques of Rapid Prototyping; Interfacing CAD models with RP manufacturing systems. Models designed will be printed with an FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) system.
