Learning outcomes
Students can use the main techniques of conference interpreting (simultaneous and consecutive interpreting) from French into Italian in different working fields.
Course contents
The course contents will be based on:
1. Professional presentation and delivery: accurate information, choice of the appropriate terminology, correct posture and voice.
2. Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting in specialty lields with texts taken from technical and economic conferences. In depth analysis and use of sector-specific languages.
3. Deontology of interpreters.

Teaching methods
Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting exercises with texts taken from technical conferences on macro-themes like: agriculture, economics, finance and law (among others).
Assessment methods
The exam will consist in a consecutive interpretation of 6 minutes and a simultaneous interpretation of 10-14 minutes of texts of specilist topics dealt with during the year.
Students will have to demonstrate a full mastery of the simultaneous and consecutive interpretation techniques (according to marking criteria at http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/scic/docs/become_an_interpreter/criteres_de_notation_versionlongue_fr.pdf). Particular focus will be put on the professionality of the presentation and on the correct use of language and terminology.
Teaching tools
Consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of printed and recorded conference speeches of specialist topics.
