Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
1. perform and understand the main traditional and molecular diagnostic methods for infectious diseases of pet animals;
2. know and apply rules about the control of stray dogs and cats, expecially with regards to public Veterinary Services skills.
Course contents
-Discussion of clinical case
- Direct or indirect examination
- DNA extraction and PCR
- Registration and identification of pets
- Management of facilities where roaming or abandoned animals are sheltered
- Risk of infectious diseases into facilities for roaming or abandoned animals
- Management of synanthropic animals in urban areas
Some activities depend on available samples and on Veterinary Services activity organisation
