Learning outcomes

The course of Fishery Regulation and Hygiene of the Marine Fishery Production, intends to develop basic knowledge on the Italian fleet, the mainly utilized fishing systems, fishery regulation and Good Hygiene Practices and safety assurances operations recommended on board till landing.

  1. The marine fishery 
  2. Classification of the professional marine fishery and consistency of the Italian fleet
  3. Biological resources relevant for the Italian fishery
  4. Regulation of the professional marine fishery: the fishing license in Italy
  5. Fishing equipment approvable by the fishing  license in Italy
  6. Fishery systems and target species
  7. Hygienic issues concerning manipulation and storage of fishery products on board till landing
  8. Italian Guidelines on Good Hygienic Practices for the fishery primary production

Teaching methods

The frontal lessons are based on each topic listed in the section course content. Some lessons are made together with an expert fisherman for a direct approach with the implementation of fishery activities, and others are made directly at the local fishery port and Wholesale Fish Market.
