Learning outcomes

 

The aim is to give students instruments for understanding and analyzing demographic behavior.  Relationships between the processes of population characteristics and the evolution of aggregate demographic and economic and social dynamics are discussed.

Course contents

Introduction to population studies.

Basic demographic processes: fertility, mortality, migration.

Estimates and projections of demographic data.

Demographic structure and consumer behaviour

The situation of  world population. The Italian demography in the European context.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons; discussion of arguments that the students can deepen.

Assessment methods

Written and oral examination. The written test includes a obligatory question and 2 questions that the student can choose within a list of 5. The written test lasts for an hour, it is not permitted the use of books and notes.

The overcoming of written test allows access to the oral test.

To support the written test, the student must enroll via electronic bulletin board in accordance with mandatory deadlines. If the student fails to enroll by the due date he must communicate, before the official closing of the  lists, the problem to the teacher who will place him in the list.
