Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has a preparation that allows him to understand and treat the major anatomic pictures with different techniques of hygiene and prevention. In particular, the student: • knows the anatomy of the oral cavity and its characteristics in relation to plaque accumulation; • acquired skills for the prevention of major oral diseases caused by bacteria; • have the basics in order to make effective prevention work; • ability to effectively remove plaque and calculus from teeth and prosthetic surfaces.

Course contents

Theoretical lectures: The oral anatomy. The dental visit: intraoral/extraoral physical examination. Clinical chart: codes and indexes. Hygienic approaches and therapeutic purposes. Clinician instruments.
Practical training: first visit, oral indexes detection and recording, principles of oral hygiene by mean of mechanical instruments.
