Learning outcomes

The course is splitted into two sections. The first offers the basic historical framework needed to understand urban development process in Europe, between the XVIIIth and the XXth century. The students will be trained in describing the main socio-economical turning-points in urban history, referring to appropriate case-studies and decoding geographical patterns.
The second section is focused on landscape both in terms of representation (XVth-XIXth centuries) and protection (XIXth-XXth centuries). The aim is to give the students the basic knowledge in history of landscape painting and approach italian landmarks preservation policies during the last two centuries.
