Course contents

Specific intention:

Study some of the specific pratical cases of the portuguese language as concerning lexical forms and typical cases of orthographic, phonetics, phonology and morfology, also with some attention and pratical study of the brazilian portuguese.

The student must know the grammatical structures and lexical enough to the compreension and production of some easy texts, usuful to the verbal comunication.

 

Grammar:

-         indirect speech

-         passive form

-         relative pronouns

 

Verbal morphology:

- Conjuntivo simples: Presente, Futuro, Imperfetto;

- Gerúndio Simples and Composto;

- Infinitivo Pessoal Simples and Composto;

- Phrasal verbs;

- Modal verbs;

- Indicativo versus Conjuntivo.

 

Nominal morphology:

- The word creation: primitivas, derivadas, simples and compostas;

- The word composition: justaposição and aglutinação;

- The word derivation:

-         Regressiva;

-         Imprópria;

-         several Prefixes and Suffixes.

 

Phonetics:

- the homófonas and homónimas words;

- the accent (including the brazilian one).

 

Orthography:

- graphic alternation on words:  i/e; o/u; j/g; ct/c; c,ç,s or ss; ch/x; s/z;

- graphic accent (including the brazilian one);

- the homógrafas and parónimas words;

- the punctuation.

 

Lexicon:

- the sinónimas, antónimas and denotativas words;

- the idiomatic forms, emphatic and typical expressions.

Personal lessons, several exercises in class and as homework.

Assessment methods

Final written and oral examination.

The final written examination will be composed by one text with comprehension questions; several grammatical esercices to fill, change or multiple choise; one composition.

The oral examination will be composed by a personal presentation of a portuguese novel.
