Learning outcomes
Exhaustive knowledge of the architectural works held in Le
Corbusier's office in the decade 1940-1950. Full understanding of
Jeanneret's projects in Chandigarh and his collaboration with
Maxwell Fry and Jane Drew at the time of the construction of the
new capital of Indian Punjab.
• Learning to describe and read critically Jeanneret's
architecture in its formal, technical, and contextual
components
• Awaraness of the most significant contributions in
the field of historiography related to the following topics:
"west"/"east" exchanges; postcolonial development in non Western
countries; vernacular modernism

Course contents
Title of the seminar: The architecture of Pierre Jeanneret in
Chandigarh. The contribution of a western architect to the
modernization of post-colonial India.
