Learning outcomes

Knowledge of the most common eye diseases that can observed in patients HIV + and what treatments to use.

Course contents

Disorders of the anterior segment (conjunctival and corneal diseases, anterior uveitis). Disorders of posterior segment (vitreitis, HIV retinitis, CMV retinitis, herpes viruses retinitis, fungal retinitis). Diagnostic methods (fluoroangiography, laser flare-cell meter). Medical therapies and surgical treatments.

Slides and notes of lessons distributed on computer.

Teaching methods

During the lessons will be presented the main pathology which could affect the anterior and the posterior segment of the eye. Concepts of systemic medical therapy. Indication to surgical treatment of vitreo-retinal complications. Training in the Retinal and Uveitis Service of the O.U. Opthalmology-Campos.

Assessment methods

At the end of the course will be made an oral examination with some questions regarding the topics covered in class.
