Learning outcomes
The course will give to the student the basic knowledge of Classic
Physics with particular attention to the application to Medicine.
In particular there will be discussed the principles and the laws of
Mechanics, Themodynamics and Fluids dynamics.
Course contents
Physical quantities, units of measures, elements of vector algebra and
analysis;
Newton Principles of Classical Mechanics, equation of motion and
convervation laws of momenta;
Kinematics of material point: rectilinear motion, uniformely accelered
motion, hamonic motion and equilibrium conditions;
Concept of Mechanical energy; definition of work of a force, kinetic
and potential energy with examples;
Newton gravitational laws and Newton equation;
Concept of heat and temperature and equivalence between heat and
mechanical work; thermic capacity and heat conduction;
First principle of Thermodynamics and consevation of internal energy of
a body; thermodynamics variables, function of state of a system,
reversible thermodynamics transformations, ideal gas.
Second principle of Thermodynamics, cyclic transformation, the Carnot
cycle and the concept of Entropy;
Definition of Pression in a fluid, Pascal law, hydrostatic pression and
Achimedes law, ideal fluid and Bernoulli law.;
Superficial tension of a fluid, capillarity, viscous fluids and laminal
motion;
Dynamics of a voscous fluid in a pipe, flow and resistence, Stokes law,
definition of vorticity and Reynold number;
Osmotic pression.
