NRRP projects - Active guidance for the transition from school to university

The University of Bologna’s activities relating to the NRRP investment: 'Active guidance for the transition from school to university' (M4C1 - Investment 1.6).

The investment aims to increase the number of graduates by encouraging the transition from secondary school to university.

Through guidance courses, students in their third, fourth or fifth (last) year of high school can learn how to make a more informed decision about their university path. The aim is to reduce the number of university drop-outs, improve attendance and learning rates, and reduce the gender gap in education and employment.

For these activities, a total of € 250 million has been allocated to all higher education institutions for the duration of four years.

The University of Bologna’s contribution

The University of Bologna has set up 15-hour guidance courses mainly aimed at students in the fourth (second-last) year of high school.

Through the meetings, participants can

  • learn more about higher education and its value in a knowledge-based society, and about the various educational paths available as opportunities for personal growth and the realisation of sustainable and inclusive societies;
  • experience active, participatory and laboratory-based teaching in specific subjects, guided by the scientific learning methodology;
  • self-assess, check and consolidate their knowledge in order to reduce the gap between the skills possessed and those required for the degree programme of interest;
  • consolidate reflective and soft skills so as to build an effective training and professional development project;
  • learn about job sectors, possible employment outlets, and sustainable and inclusive future jobs, and the link between these and the knowledge and skills acquired.

The guidance meetings started in a.y. 2022/23 and will continue until a.y. 2025/26.
