Institutional credentials and student access to Bologna University online services

Help with big or small problems in using academic ‘credentials’ for access to online services offered by the University of Bologna.

Are you accessing an on-line service for the first time?

If you are using your institutional credentials for the first time and wish to access one of the on-line services, you must set a personal password, which will be valid for all on-line services.

You can do so by visiting Studenti Online or using the change password service.

Username and PUK code are created at the end of the registration procedure (for example, on AlmaOrienta or Studenti Online) and are sent to the personal e-mail address you entered.
The PUK (Personal Unblocking Key) is the initial password generated automatically by the system.

Can't remember your password?

If you can't remember your personal password you can reset the PUK (initial password) using the credentials recovery service, which will send your username and PUK to the personal address (e-mail, mobile phone number) you entered on registration.

If you cannot recover your initial password using the credentials recovery system, you can ask for it to be sent to you using the form you can download from this page.

Fill in all parts of the form, sign it, scan it,  and send it by e-mail to , with a scan of front and back copy of a valid ID document.

You are a graduate and have never received your credentials?

If you graduated from a programme under the previous degree programme system (prior to D.M. 509/ 99) and you don't have your institutional credentials to access the on-line services, you can ask for them to be created using the form you can download from this page.

Fill in all parts of the form, sign it, scan it,  and send it by e-mail to , with a scan of front and back copy of a valid ID document.

What can you do before your matriculation?

Before your matriculation application is approved by the Student Administration Office, you may access Studenti Online and your University email using your account name.surname@studio.unibo.it. However, you will not be able to access the wireless network AlmaWifi, the library resources and the teaching materials.

In general, before your matriculation application is approved you cannot access the services reserved to regularly matriculated students.

What happens after you have completed your studies

The account name.surname@studio.unibo.it of students regularly enrolled at the University of Bologna is currently kept active indeterminately, until students request it to be disabled. The e-mail box remains active together with the account.

Once you have completed your university studies (degree, transfer to another university, withdrawal, etc.) you will no longer be able to use the account name.surname@studio.unibo.it  to access the AlmaWifi network or the library resources.

Generally, you will not be able to access any of the services reserved for students with active university careers. For example, you will no longer be able to access the laboratories or structures using access control systems with active student control settings.

Access to studenti.unibo.it is kept active in order to use the on-line certification service or to register for another programme.
