Institutional credentials and student access to Bologna University online services

Help with big or small problems in using academic ‘credentials’ for access to online services offered by the University of Bologna.

You are a new student and you want to get credentials?

If you have a SPID digital identity, use it to register on Studenti Online: select the "Register" button and then the "Enter with SPID" button. The system will automatically retrieve your personal data from SPID and at the end it will create your name.surname@studio.unibo.it credentials.

If you are a minor, go to Studenti Online, select the “Register” button and enter your tax code: at the end of the process the system will generate your credentials in the format name.surname@studio.unibo.it.

If you are an international student and you do not have an identity document issued in Italy, go to Studenti Online, select first the “Register” button and then “Registration for international students”: at the end of the process the system will generate your credentials in the format name.surname@studio.unibo.it.

Are you accessing an online service for the first time?

If you are using your institutional credentials in the format name.surname@studio.unibo.it for the first time and wish to access one of the on-line services, you must set a personal password, which will be valid for all on-line services.

You can do this by following the instructions in the e-mail with which the username was sent to you.

If you have a SPID or a CIE digital identity, you can use the credentials recovery service to reset your password.

Can't remember your password?

If you have forgotten your password you can reset it via the credentials recovery service, using also your SPID or CIE digital identity.

You are a graduate and have never received your credentials?

If you graduated under the previous Degree Programme system (ante D.M. 509/99) and you have institutional credentials, you can still access Studenti Online using your SPID or a CIE digital identity;  this way, you can directly obtain certificates and self-certifications.
To participate in a selection or to enrol in a new Degree Programme, please register using SPID or a CIE digital identity to obtain the @studio.unibo.it. institutional credentials.
If you lack SPID or CIE credentials, you can obtain your @studio.unibo.it credentials by emailing help.studentionline@unibo.it and providing your personal data and tax code.

What can you do before your matriculation?

Before your matriculation application is approved by the Student Administration Office, you may access Studenti Online and your University email using your account name.surname@studio.unibo.it. However, you will not be able to access the wireless network ALMAWIFI and the online library resources.

In general, before your matriculation application is approved you cannot access the services reserved to regularly matriculated students.

What happens after you have completed your studies

The account name.surname@studio.unibo.it of students regularly enrolled at the University of Bologna is currently kept active indeterminately, until students request it to be disabled. The e-mail box remains active together with the account.

Once you have completed your university studies (degree, transfer to another university, withdrawal, etc.) you will no longer be able to use the account name.surname@studio.unibo.it  to access the ALMAWIFI network, to library resources and software products requiring a Campus licence for active students.

Generally, you will not be able to access any of the services reserved for students with active university careers. For example, you will no longer be able to access the laboratories or structures using access control systems with active student control settings.

Access to Studenti Online is kept active in order to use the on-line certification service or to register for another programme.
