Laurea Magistrale (Second cycle degree/Two year Master - 120 ECTS) in East European and Eurasian Studies

The aim of the second cycle degree programme in East European and Eurasian Studies(MIREES) is to produce professionals (analysts, academics, scholars) able to create and communicate highly specialised content and contextualise it in relation to the social, political and economic landscape in both the public andprivate sectors. These contents may be characteristic of public organisations (Ministries, international governmental institutions), businesses (multinationals or with a strong presence in the Eastern European area generally) or traditional or digital media. The competences provided by the programme underline the theoretical and methodological contributions to studying the political, social and economic transformations in the countries of Central-Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Eurasian area, with a multidisciplinary vision, within the broad field of social, political and economic sciences. This programme contributes to the critical development of students, helping them to cultivate methodological insights that enable them to adopt a multidisciplinary vision and to analyse each situation, identifying and designing content and flexible communication plans.
The international teaching staff provided by the University's partners facilitate the delivery of the core modules on the political and economic history of the field of study in thefirst year of the programme. Students will also study social science research methodologies along with their empirical application in conducting analyses andevaluations in the geopolitical and geoeconomics context of Central and Eastern Europe.
In the second year, students will undertake an exchange with one of the university's partners and will continuethe relative linguistic studies initiated in the first year. Studying at one ofthe partner universities offers students greater flexibility with regard to thechoice of modules which may be freely selected or chosen from a list of relatedsubjects. It also entails further career-oriented learning activities.
For this purpose:
a) learning activities aimed atthe development of the theoretical and methodological research and study skills (work in progress) needed to form an conscious understanding of the field ofstudy, also enhancing a significant component of cultural mediation;
b) otherlearning activities aimed at specific research in the 4th semester, developingpractical skills, also through special agreements in place with companies andinstitutions. All students are encouraged toundertake curricular internships related to the final examination through agreements in place with companies and organisations in Italy and abroad.
