Learning outcomes
The workshop focuses on the inner workings of a digital editorial team — a dynamic environment responsible for the production of editorial content across digital platforms and formats (such as video podcasts, digital magazines, and blogs). It will explore the specific roles and tasks of the various professionals involved, as well as the interactions among team members during the development of an editorial project. Particular attention will be given to the operational processes and key phases leading to the creation of a digital product: from format design to content management, from directing and post-production to promotional and distribution strategies.
By the end of the workshop, students will be familiar with the organization and workflow of a digital newsroom, will understand the roles and responsibilities of the different professionals involved, and will be able to design, produce, and promote effective digital editorial content
Course contents
The workshop is structured into ten weekly sessions, each divided into two main components: a theoretical section introducing key concepts, organizational models, tools, and digital production techniques; and a practical section focused on editorial work in a newsroom setting.
The course is aimed at designing and producing content and formats for Compass RD (Compass Digital Magazine), the multimedia platform of the Master's Degree in Public and Corporate Communication (LM COMPASS). Students will be actively involved in the editorial process, taking on specific roles and collaborating in teams to create digital editorial products.
Activities will take place in the ProDigi laboratory, located within the Department of Political and Social Sciences — a space equipped with a recording studio and facilities for editing and post-production of digital multimedia content.
The workshop will also feature case studies and guest talks by professionals working in the field of digital publishing, with a particular focus on institutional communication projects.
