Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the main reference regulations for the integration/inclusion of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Understand the main models of integration/inclusion (medical, social, and bio-psycho-social models).
  • Understand what is meant by barriers and facilitators.
  • Understand the models of Individualized Education Plans (PEI) and Personalized Learning Plans (PDP) related to secondary school.
  • Understand some teaching approaches for Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD).
  • Understand the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach.

Course contents

The objectives declared for the course “Inclusive Education for Students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)” are:

  • the concept of inclusion and specific policies for students with SEN;
  • ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health);
  • school organization for inclusion: barriers and facilitators;
  • the national PEI and the role of the curricular teacher;
  • PDP models.

Assessment methods

Eligibility for the course will be granted based on verification of the minimum attendance requirement.

The assessment of learning related to the course content is carried out as part of the final examination for obtaining the teaching qualification in the relevant subject area of the training program, as provided for by Article 9 of the DPCM of 4 August 2023.
