91074 - Internship II (RN)

Academic Year 2025/2026

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Imaging and Radiotherapy techniques (cod. 6063)

Learning outcomes

The student progressively develops, initially under supervision and subsequently independently, the ability to produce high-quality CT images in patients undergoing CT examinations, both with and without contrast agents, covering all anatomical systems and the central nervous system.
The student also acquires the capability to perform clinical activities in the settings of hemodynamics, diagnostic and interventional angiography.
Furthermore, the student develops appropriate interpersonal and communication skills required for the clinical training environment.

Course contents

First-Year Curriculum

Health Physics:

  • Quality control of the radiation beam, radiological accessories, and conventional radiology equipment.

Computed Tomography (CT):

  • Knowledge of the technical specifications and operating principles of CT systems.

  • Diagnostic room layout (environmental topography; emergency automation systems; personal protective equipment).

  • Execution of standard imaging protocols, with or without contrast media.

  • Patient information and preparation, including assessment of the clinical request and related documentation, in collaboration with the radiologist.

  • Cooperation with the nurse in the preparation and administration of contrast agents, and with the radiologist in the image acquisition process, based on the clinical indication and imaging technique required.

Assessment methods

Practical Examination on a Patient Using a Multidetector CT Scanner:
The student is required to perform a CT examination on a patient using a multidetector CT system on which they have completed a sufficient period of clinical training. The examination, with or without contrast medium, must be carried out independently and in collaboration with the radiologist.
