Learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to develop the student's awareness of the specificities of patients with particular needs.
The identification paths as well as the management of these patients also according to the different ages will be the subject of discussion.
Course contents
The following topics will be addressed:
The definitions of disabilities according to the WHO
Health vulnerabilities according to the LEAs in the Emilia Romagna region
Guidelines for promoting oral health in patients with special needs
Communication between the dentist and the patient with special needs
Pain control in the dental environment in patients with particular needs
Guidelines for dental therapies in patients with particular needs
The dental facility dedicated to patients with particular needs
Readings/Bibliography
Material distributed by the teacher, selected scientific articles on the topics
Teaching methods
frontal lessons with operational simulations
Assessment methods
An ongoing exam based on a classroom discussion on specific topics assigned to working groups at the beginning of the course.
An e-learning assessment questionnaire.
Final oral exam.
