Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student: -knows the integrated outpatient/hospital path that leads to the diagnosis/rehabilitation of cognitive functions for various neurological and psychiatric pathologies -knows the composition of the multidisciplinary hospital team that carries out diagnosis, neuropsychological rehabilitation, and psychoeducational support for caregivers -knows the role of the neuropsychologist within the team, and the clinical, ethical, and welfare aspects of the profession
Course contents
The course covers four fundamental areas of content:
1-History of the National Health Service (SSN) and organs that comprise it. The course will describe the Essential Levels of Care (LEA), methods of financing and healthcare planning, clinical governance tools, appropriateness and outcome assessment, integrated care pathways, and specialist outpatient care.
2-Characteristics of the National Health Plan, the structure of Regional Health Plans and Local Implementation Plans, with particular emphasis on the role of the psychologist within social and health care pathways. Analysis of how medical records are managed and personal data is processed.
3-The role of the psychologist in the National Health Service: regulation of the profession and structures/departments in which the psychologist works: maternal and child health, childhood and adolescence, mental health, pathological addictions, counseling centers, the judicial system, emergency psychology, the hospital setting, and clinical risk management in healthcare.
4-Possible areas of work for neuropsychologists, professional contexts, development of guidelines and diagnostic-therapeutic-care pathways (PDTA), multi-professional and multidisciplinary interactions. Presentation of possible contractual work contexts and administrative-legal characteristics.

The assessment will be oral.
