Learning outcomes
At the end of the module the student possesses the knowledge relating to taking charge of the person/family within the priority health problems of the medical area. She identifies, plans and evaluates care interventions and collaborates with other professional figures in diagnostic-therapeutic paths.
Course contents
1. Nursing in the medical field:
a) Ischemic heart disease (clinical case study: AMI)
b) Chronic kidney disease, acute and chronic renal failure, and fluid and electrolyte disorders (clinical case study: acute and/or chronic renal failure)
c) Hepatitis and pancreatitis
d) Asthma and COPD (clinical case study: COPD)
e) Diabetes (clinical case study: Type 1 and/or Type 2 TDM)
f) Transient ischemic attack and stroke (clinical case study: ischemic stroke)
g) Oncological, hematological, and end-of-life diseases (clinical case study: acute lymphoblastic leukemia)

Teaching methods
Frontal and interactive lecture with small group exercises and analysis of clinical cases.
Assessment methods
Single Written Exam in the Medical and Chronic Areas + Oral Exam.
Single Written Exam: Care planning for a clinical case in the medical or chronic area, identifying two DIs and one PC (or one DI and two PCs), complete with related factors, defining characteristics, objectives, indicators, and interventions (preparatory to the oral exam) [30 minutes].
Oral Exam: Open-ended questions on the medical area program.
The written exam is passed if all three clinical assessments are complete and correct.
