Course contents

Urban explorations: practicing inclusive education between fragility and resilience: talents, artistic and cultural mediators.

The arts are potential mediators of human relationships. They bring cultures closer together, rediscover ancient melodies, and can serve multiple purposes. They are used in rehabilitation settings to improve quality of life and promote well-being in the presence of vulnerability and disability; they are practiced in educational settings both as disciplines and through workshops; they are performed in public squares to entertain the public and communicate meaning; they are performed in private settings; and finally, they are performed in elite venues, aimed at an audience of experts and enthusiasts. Therefore, the uses, meanings, and contexts in which they are accessible are multiple. The workshop aims to reflect on the possible uses and ways in which artistic and cultural mediators can become a tool for recognizing talents and skills, establishing educational relationships, addressing fragility, vulnerability, and resilience, and developing educational projects and pathways from a perspective of human, ecological, and social sustainability.

Teaching methods

The workshop offers an entirely active learning experience, directly involving participants through a hands-on approach. The teaching method uses dynamic methodologies, aiming to impart basic and fundamental knowledge and learning that will be useful for future careers as social and cultural educators. Students are expected to actively engage in the classroom through small and large group work and analysis of video and paper documentation.
