Learning outcomes
The workshop aims at presenting the current EU international cooperation and development policy, its main objectives and goals, its geographical and sector approaches and the major aid instruments employed as well as at familiarizing the student with the method and tools for the project design and management in the context of EU promotion of human rights and cultural heritage. By the end of the workshop, the student: has acquired a sound knowledge of the current EU international cooperation and development policy; is able to search and respond to the most relevant calls for proposals in the field of human rights and cultural heritage.
Course contents
- The idea of development, a critical introduction.
- The available frameworks for sustainable development policies and programmes
- The EU’s role and the New European Consensus.
- EU's structure and actions. Directorates-General (DGs), programs and call for proposals.
- The Project Cycle Management. Tools for designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating development projects
- Practical exercise
- A critical review
Teaching methods
Lectures, personal readings, and mostly working groups will alternate during the workshop.
The EU website will be the main source of information and tools for the activities during the workshop.
Students with a disability or specific learning disabilities (DSA) who are requesting academic adjustments or compensatory tools are invited to communicate their needs to the teaching staff, in order to properly address them and agree on the appropriate measures with the competent bodies.
Assessment methods
The assessment will be based on the quality of the draft project prepared by each working group and its presentation.
Teaching tools
The teacher will provide some presentations and documents. Official documents from the EU website will be used during the workshop.
