Learning outcomes
The course provides knowledge and applying knowledge and understanding of the general principles of manual therapy. They will develop the ability to perform a thorough assessment, plan treatment, and execute the necessary manual therapy techniques.
Course contents
Theoretical Part
History, IFOMPT Indications and Contraindications Conceptual Models (ICF, Cockpit Model, Load-Load Capacity, Kaltenborn Range of Motion, Coping Strategies) Joint Biomechanics (End Feel and Accessory Movements) Manual Therapy Assessment Tools (Anamnesis, observation, physical examination, functional examination, palpation, neurological examination, main questionnaires and tests) Evaluation and Treatment of Peripheral Nerve Trunk Problems (Provocation Tests, Mechanical Interface Opening/Closing Techniques, Slippage and Tensioning of Peripheral Nerve Trunks) Evaluation and Treatment of Joint Disorders (Passive Movement Examination, Joint Play Examination, Resisted Movement Examination, Compression, Traction, Translation, Manipulation, and Combined Movement Techniques) Soft Tissue Assessment and Treatment (Active and Resisted Movement Examination, Palpation, and Stretching of the Main Muscles Subjected to Trigger and Tender Point, P.I.R. and C.R.A.C. techniques, deep motor strengthening of the cervical and lumbar region)
Practical part
Identification and treatment of upper quadrant trigger points: pectoralis major, pectoralis minor, biceps brachii, triceps brachii, upper trapezius, levator scapulae, SCOM, scalene muscles, paravertebral muscles Identification and treatment of lower quadrant trigger points: piriformis, adductors, quadriceps, hamstrings, triceps surae, paravertebral muscles Traction techniques: shoulder, wrist, elbow, upper and lower cervical spine, lumbar spine (segmental and global), hip, knee, ankle Deep motor strengthening techniques for the cervical and lumbar region Provocation tests of the main peripheral nerve trunks, sliding techniques, interface opening-closing techniques, tensioning

In consideration of the types of activities and teaching methods adopted, the attendance of this training activity requires all students to carry out modules 1 and 2 in e-learning mode and participation in the third module of specific training on safety and health in the places of study / internship.

Assessment methods
Learning assessment is based on the achievement of the knowledge objectives for the topics covered in class.
Learning assessment consists of an oral and practical exam.
Grading:
Preparation on a very limited number of topics covered in the course and analytical skills that emerge only with the instructor's assistance, generally correct language → 18-19;
Preparation on a limited number of topics covered in the course and independent analysis skills only on purely executive questions, correct language → 20-24;
Preparation on a large number of topics covered in the course, ability to make independent critical analysis choices, mastery of specific terminology → 25-29;
Substantially comprehensive preparation on the topics covered in the course, ability to make independent critical analysis and connection choices, full mastery of specific terminology, and ability to argue and self-reflect → 30-30L.
To take the exam, you must register on the appropriate lists published on Alma Esami.
