Academic Year 2025/2026

Learning outcomes

At the end of the seminar (an activity closely related to the objectives of the degree program) the student acquires specific skills and notions to deal with working environment connected with linguistic and/or philological and/or literary and/or historical and/or artistic professions.

Course contents

The Learning by Doing Cycle consists of seminar meetings aimed at establishing a dialogue between male and female students of the LILEC Department's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs and professionals, dedicated to a reflection on the world of work from humanistic skills and knowledge.
The seminar intends, on the one hand, to offer students a broad panorama of work realities accessible with degrees inherent to languages and cultures, even beyond traditional fields such as teaching and translation/interpreting, and on the other hand to develop a mindset effective to the presentation of skills and knowledge acquired in the work environment, through especially personal testimonies of the speakers that highlight the effectiveness and richness of training and work paths.

Meetings with the companies involved are being developed for a.y. 2025-26. For past editions, see the dedicated page.

Readings/Bibliography

The texts and materials will be made available online on the Virtuale Platform at the beginning of the course.

Teaching methods

Face-to-face, participatory dialogue lessons.

Assessment methods

The seminar will be evaluated based on a final project that integrates both theoretical and practical components. In the theoretical part, students will be required to demonstrate that they have acquired critical awareness of issues related to the multilingual corpora and the representation of cultural data. In the practical part, they will have to apply this knowledge to a practical annotation activity, developing a model or sample of an annotated corpus. The assessment will take into account the ability to link linguistic and cultural aspects with IT tools and methodologies, as well as the clarity of presentation, the consistency of the project, and the originality of the proposed approach.

Teaching tools

Teaching materials will be shared on the Virtual platform.
Students with DSA or temporary or permanent disabilities: it is suggested to get in touch immediately with the responsible University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/it ) and with the lecturer, to seek together the most effective strategies in following the lectures and/or preparing for the exam.
